This wo k is based on he “Os Miña zos” MPA c ea ed in Li a, Ca no a (W Galician
coas , NW Spain), de eloped and implemen ed by he adi ional ishing communi ies
as a sus ainable managemen ool o con ol o e ishing.
The de elopmen o he “Os
Miña zos” MPA s a ed in Oc obe
2003 and i s designa ion as an MPA
ook place in Ap il 2007. This MPA
has an ex ension o 1300 ha, wi h
wo No-Take Zones (NTZ) o 37 ha
and 12 ha espec i ely, whe e he
mos impo an habi a s p esen in
he zone a e ep esen ed. These
NTZs cons i u e a e uge o he
g ow h and ep oduc ion o
biological communi ies wi hou
ishing p essu e.
The “Os Miña zos” MPA is an
ini ia i e ha was bo n om he
ishe men who a e esponsible o i s
implemen a ion.
