ABSTRACT
In oduc ion: The knowledge ha he use o ace masks delays he SARS-CoV-2 ansmission is
apidly gaining popula i y in he gene al popula ion. Respi a o y masks (RM) a e p o ec i e de ices
co e ing a pa o he ace. They a e designed o p o ec bo h he pe son who wea s hem and he
immedia e en i onmen om b ea hable pollu an s. Resea che s ha e used a ious app oaches o
de elop accines ha p o ec agains COVID-19 and as a esul , hey ha e de eloped di e en ypes
o accine, including co ishield which is ound o ha e e icacy o 71% whe eas co axin has he
e icacy a e o 82%.
Aim : To e alua e awa eness le el ega ding con inuance o mask p ac ices pos accina ion among
Den al s uden s .
Ma e ials And Me hods: In his s udy, a su ey was conduc ed among 100 den al s uden s o a
p i a e den al college by ci cula ing a ques ionnai e . Google o ms and links we e sha ed in a ious
social media. 10 ques ions consis ing ela ed o awa eness, usage o mask a e accina ion we e
included in he s udy. Unde g adua es, pos g adua e s uden s o he p i a e den al colleges we e
only included in he s udy.The da a was collec ed and analysed using SPSS so wa e e sion 23 and
he s a is ical signi icance was checked using Chi-Squa e analysis . ( p < 0.05 was conside ed as
s a is ically signi ican )
Resul s: I was obse ed ha s uden s a e awa e o a ious masks and he impo ance o masks,
accina ion and usage o masks pos accina ion.
Conclusion: I was no ed ha he e is s ill a lack o awa eness p e ailing , hence mo e upda es ha e o
be gi en among unde g adua e s uden s ega ding he use o mask p ac ices pos accina ion o
be e knowledge .

INTRODUCTION
The e is a new public heal h c isis h ea ening he wo ld wi h he eme gence and sp ead o he 2019 no el
co ona i us (2019-nCoV) o he se e e acu e espi a o y synd ome co ona i us 2 (SARS-CoV-2).The
symp oms a e usually e e , cough, so e h oa , b ea hlessness, a igue, malaise among o he s. The disease is
mild in mos people; in some (usually he elde ly and hose wi h como bidi ies), i may p og ess o pneumonia,
acu e espi a o y dis ess synd ome (ARDS) and mul i o gan dys unc ion(1).Many people a e
asymp oma ic.Since a his ime he e a e no app o ed ea men s o his in ec ion, p e en ion is c ucial.
Se e al p ope ies o his i us make p e en ion di icul namely, non-speci ic ea u es o he disease, he
in ec i i y e en be o e onse o symp oms in he incuba ion pe iod, ansmission om asymp oma ic people,
long incuba ion pe iod, opism o mucosal su aces such as he conjunc i a, p olonged du a ion o he illness
and ansmission e en a e clinical eco e y(2).Pa ien s should be asked o wea a simple su gical mask and
p ac ice cough hygiene. Masks should be used as pa o a comp ehensi e s a egy o measu es o supp ess
ansmission and sa e li es; he use o a mask alone is no su icien o p o ide an adequa e le el o p o ec ion
agains COVID-19(3).Masks can play a leas wo oles in i al ansmission and p e en ion in he gene al
popula ion.. Resea ch demons a es ha masks can ei he block he apid sp ead gene a ed by coughing o
edi ec in much less ha m ul ways o ai bo ne in ec ion con ol (4).Second, he mask ma e ial can il e i al
pa icles such as ae osols o d ople s. Addi ionally, o asymp oma ic in ec ed indi iduals, wea ing a mask can
po en ially educe he isk o in ec ing o he people when he exac indi idual wea s a mask o p o ec him o

c i ical sho age o medical masks esul ing om he COVID-19 pandemic, la ge po ions o he popula ion a e
mobilizing o p oduce clo h masks using locally sou ced ab ics which is no as e icien as su gical and N95
mask .(6)
Fab ic masks a e ecommended o p e en onwa d ansmission in he gene al popula ion in public a eas,
pa icula ly whe e dis ancing is no possible, and in a eas o communi y ansmission and his could include he
school g ounds in some si ua ions. Masks may help o p o ec o he s, because wea e s may be in ec ed be o e
symp oms o illness appea . Wea ing a su gical mask is one o he p e en ion measu es o limi sp ead o ce ain
espi a o y diseases, howe e he use o a mask alone is insu icien o p o ide he adequa e le el o p o ec ion
and o he equally ele an measu es should be adop ed(7).An N95 mask is a ype o espi a o and i o e s mo e
p o ec ion han a medical mask does because, i il e s ou bo h la ge and small pa icles when he wea e
inhales(8).Because N95 masks ha e been in sho supply, he Cen e o Disease Con ol And P e en ion
(CDC)has said hey a e in sho age. Like su gical masks, N95 masks a e in ended o be disposable and much
esea ch is unde going ega ding he euse o masks (9) .Some N95 masks, and e en some clo h masks, ha e
al es ha make hem easie o b ea he h ough. Un o una ely, hese masks don' il e he ai he wea e
b ea hes ou and i is no ecommended as i is no sa e o su ounding people.The CDC doesn' ecommend
using ace shields ins ead o masks because i 's unclea how much p o ec ion shields p o ide.(10)
The media and public a la ge a e placing an onus on he launch o a accine ha p o ec s agains COVID-19.

con inuance o mask p ac ices pos accina ion among Den al s uden s.
MATERIALS AND METHODS:
In his s udy, a su ey was conduc ed among 100 den al s uden s o a p i a e den al college by ci cula ing
ques ionnai e . Google o ms and links we e sha ed in a ious social media. 10 ques ions ela ed o awa eness,
usage o masks a e accina ion we e included in he s udy. Unde g adua es, pos g adua e s uden s o he
p i a e den al colleges we e only included in he s udy.The da a was collec ed and analysed using SPSS

RESULTS
Ou o 100 s uden s pa icipa ed, 50% we e pos g adua e s uden s and 50% we e unde g adua e s uden s
espec i ely ( ig1) .Majo i y o he popula ion, ha is 91% s uden s a e awa e abou he ou es o ansmission
( ig2).94% o he s uden s a e awa e ha mask is used as basic line p o ec ing in Co id -19( ig 3). 92% o he
s uden s wi nessed he usage o mask p ac ices pos lockdown has dec eased ( ig4).Majo i y o he den al
s uden popula ion (76%) p e e ed using N95 mask ( ig 5).Majo i y o he s uden s ( 74%) o he s uden s a e
no awa e abou he accines’ ole in p e en ion o he disease( ig6).
On e alua ing he associa ion be ween he p e e ed mask and he designa ion o he s uden s , among pos
g adua e s uden s hey p e e ed using N95 mask (41%) whe eas among unde g adua e s uden s, 35% p e e ed
using N95 mask ( ig7).In he associa ion be ween mask p ac ices pos accina ion, pos g adua es sugges ed
using mask a e accina ion (44%) ( ig8). Fig 9 ep esen s ha he majo i y o he den al s uden s popula ion
46% among pos g adua es and 46% among unde g adua e s uden s a e awa e ha accines help in p e en ing
Co id-19.

DISCUSSION

a e accina ed comple ely and use o mask pos accina ion is much needed o a oid he apid sp ead. S udies
shows ha o al pa hologis we e mo e awa e abou Co id ou b eak and i s pa hogenesis and i s se e i y be e
han any o he den al s uden s and also insis ed ha ex ensi e esea ch could help in he apeu ics and be e
p e en ion(34).P e ious s udy pe o med sugges ed ha hype glycemic condi ions caused by odon ogenesis
supp esses cell p oli e a ion which inc eases he isk ac o o pa ien s a ec ed wi h Co id-19 and end o cause
pos eco e y se ious in ec ions in he o al ca i y (35)(36).Cu en e idence shows ha indi iduals who
consume Khaini a e a high isk o de elop po en ially malignan diso de s inc easing he isk associa ed wi h
Co id-19 . In addi ion o ha he s udy demons a es ha poo me abolising a ian s ha e modes inc ease in he
isk o disease de elopmen in he indi iduals and may ha e inc eased isk in pos eco e y s ages. The p esen
s udy shows ha need o conside ing ch onic mucosal i i a ion as an e iological ac o o he de elopmen o
a ious po en ially malignan lesions such as o al squamous cell ca cinoma wi hou he associa ion o obacco
habi which may be inc eased isk in ge ing eco e ed om disease and may end o s ill mo e wo sen he
condi ion o he pa ien (37).An a icle sugges ed ha he subjec s p e ailing pa icula geno ype seem o be
p edisposed o o al squamous cell ca cinoma de elopmen and he indi iduals wi h me abolic unc ion may be
a inc eased isk i hey use obacco and a eca nu p oduc s and pa ien s eco e ed om he ecen in ec ion
should be sugges ed o s op consuming which may be isk ac o in he eco e y o he diseases(38)(39).In o de

CONCLUSION
Thus om he p elimina y s udy we can hypo hesise ha awa eness o use o mask , pos accina ion has been
no p e ailing among unde g adua e s uden s and much mo e in o ma ion upda ion and awa eness p og am will
help in be e awa eness .We an icipa e ha his s udy will se e as a base o u he b eak h ough and s ill
mo e awa eness among s uden s and gene al public helps in limi ed sp ead o disease, which has emained a
opic o con o e sy o mon hs and also p o e o be o eno mous impo ance in he p ac ice o using mask pos
accina ion.
