LEXICON INVESTIGATIONS LITHUANIA TSR SCIENCE ACADEMY BATTLE UPYNO TARMINGS LEXICON E. GRINAVECKIENĖ In the language of people of every corner of our republic there is a multitude of unpublished living everyday sayings, rarer words, compounds of fixed words. Most of the realities they represent are gradually forgotten, disappearing. jų Therefore, it su is important to write down, publish and study these lexical facts as diligently as possible, because the word is a good reflection of the life of the people of the whole region or of its individual parts, a witness of life, indicating connections with the ancient present. The lexicon of the dialects of the river Mūša presented here is written by the author in to 1960—1965 in the quadrangle between jo Pašvitinis, su Zeimelis, ir Vaškū, Linkuvė. The relation of the selected words to the literary language is differential, i.e. the words used here are dialectisms — lexical, constructive, accentuative or semantic, and some of them are syntactic. Also included are words whose figurative meaning is of a narrow dialectic character, or which, in the author’s opinion, themselves or their individual constructive elements are related to those dialects or larger units of those dialects and are closer and more characteristic to them. The relationship of the presented words with the lexicon of other Lithuanian dialects is not affected here, i.e. individual words in the presented form or meaning may be used in a larger area of Lithuanian dialects. Most of the words used here are perhaps the most active and prominent element of dialect vocabulary – figurative verbs. A considerable part of the published vocabulary is still alive only in the stories and memories of the representatives of the old generation and represents the realities that are now usually withdrawn or disappearing, related to ancient customs, traditions, etc. Some of the words have lexical, semantic or constructive similarities with Latvian (la.). Some of the words are also borrowed. These are usually Slavisms (Sl.) or Germanisms. Common vocabulary with other languages or borrowed vocabulary can help in one aspect or another to shed light on the relationship of the Mūšos River dialects or Lithuanian language and its dialects in general with other languages. Many of the presented words and their forms can help to shed light on and clarify many issues of Lithuanian language lexicon, grammar, pronunciation, origin of one form, semantics of words. 100 mg/kg/day. The words of the Mūšos river dialects, like all other Lithuanian dialects. lexicon, have been collected and accumulated in the,,Lietuviu kalbos žodynas“, and in recent years also in the,,Lietuvių kalbos atlas“, and published (together with all Lithuanian words) in the great,,Lietuvių kalbos žodynas““. However, we do not have any works that publish or examine the lexicon of these dialects alone. The well-known Lithuanian linguist K. Jaunius, however, has published,,Panevėžio dialektai 1 See. Lithuanian language. Dictionary, I—VIII. ne
lexical characteristics“?, but the relatively few Panevėžys dialect words he describes are mostly collected iš by other (Pasvalys, Pampénu, Krinčino, Joniškėlis, Vabalniūkas, Linkuva) than the lexicon presented here. Be There they are selected to be ir presented in another way: in addition to illustrative material, they are compared with each other, their equivalents are searched in other ir Lithuanian dialects in other languages. Due to the differeir nt purpose, the vocabulary raised by K. Jaunius differs from the one presented here. ai’ Each dialect word presented here is illustrated by one or several sentences — vivid folk tales ar written from the mouths of people who speak well in dialect. In this way, a number of examples of pictorial sayings, phraseologisms, small folklore are presented. All words in the ir sentences illustrating them transpose literary į language. The words are listed in alphabetical order. — All the words ir in the illustrative sentences are pronounced. The pronouns indicate the pronunciatiir on.
