Straipsniai / Articles 51 ANŽELIKA SMETONIENĖ Lietuvių kalbos institutas Mokslinių tyrimų kryptis: leksika. The Slavic Roots Other uses JONO The Gospel of John Poland and Lithuania 1647, 1674, 1679, 1690 and 1705 Other, not further worked than hot-rolled, in coils Alternation of Slavic-root words in Ewangelie Polskie y Litewskie by Jonas Jaknavičius from 1647, 1674, 1679, 1690 and 1705 This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal. The article compares the first five editions of the Polish and Lithuanian Gospels by Jono Jaknawicki. The use of words of another Slavic root is investigated. It has been observed that in J. Jaknawicia's Ewangelie Polskie y Litewskie there are different cases of Keleriopi words: in later editions, borrowings are used not only in place of indigenous words, but also in the position of other words of foreign origin. There are also places where in later editions the word indigenous was used instead of loanword. The main words are: Jaknavičius, borrowings, indigenous words, lexicon, old writings. This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal. In the article first five editions of Ewangelie Polskie y Litewskie by Jonas Jaknavičius are compared. It is analyzed how Slavic-root words usage was changing. All cases of alternation of words in Ewangelie Polskie y Litewskie can be classified: 1. Word of foreign origin in later editions of JE is replaced by indigenous word; Indigenous word in later editions is writings. replaced by word of foreign origin; 3. Loanword is replaced by other loanword. KEYWORDS: Jaknavičius, loanwords, indigenous words, vocabulary, old ANŽELIKA SMETONIENĖ 52 Acta Linguistica Lithuanica LXXVI to the Treaty He is the author of various religious hymns, catechetical books, Latin prose, and probably translated into Lithuanian excerpts from some of the Gospels for the sermons of Constantine the Great (VLE VIII, 477), but the facsimile of his Gospel žymiausias jo darbas yra evangelijų vertimas, išleistas rinkinyje Ewangelie Polskie y Litewskie. Šis rinkinys ypatingas tuo, kad nuo 1647 m., kai buvo išleistas pirmą kartą, jo leidimai buvo kartoti dešimtis kartų dar kelis šimtmečius (Zinkevičius 1988: 269). Šis faktas byloja apie nepaprastą Ewangelie Polskie y Litewskie populiarumą. Vis dėlto, palyginti su kitais lietuvių kalbos senaisiais raštais, J. Jaknavičiaus evangelijos mažai tyrinėtos. Daugiausiai šio autoriaus darbus nagrinėjo Milda Lučinskienė, 2005 m. parengusi pirmojo J. Jaknaviedition with introductory articles, presenting the author's biography and literary activities, raises the problem of translation sources, discusses 1647 evangelicals (Lučinskienė, 2005). The author has already studied the 1647 and 1674 editions of the Polish and Lithuanian Gospels by J. Jakowicz, and after comparing the graphics and orthography of the various editions, she came to the conclusion that the 1674 edition was written to pass to the more frequent sampling (Luchinskienė 2003) and to correct the eastern highland dialect forms (Luchinskienė 2001). M. Lučinskienė has focused not only on the spelling and vocabulary of J. Jaknavičius in different publications, but also on the morphological forms of the word. It has been observed that the most unusual multi-count beneficiaries are the postpositional substitutes (Lučinskienė 1998). In addition to this, there is a joint article with Artur Južensky, in which he discusses sakinių lyginamosios konstrukcijos (Judžentis, Lučinskienė 2008). Minėtuose M. Lučinskienės tyrimuose jau atkreiptas dėmesys į ortografithe publication in 1647 of the publication of the singular and compound nouns, some morphological forms, and rhetoric. Leksika is the most unstable part of the language, most likely reacting to changes in various areas of human life. As part of the lexicon, borrowing is also influenced by external factors, and the intensity of borrowing depends on them (Urbutis 1978: 28). The first edition of the Polish and Lithuanian Gospels (Jewish Edition) by J. Jakowicz, as mentioned, is traditionally dated to 1647, although there are speculations that the first edition may have trasis pasirodė keleri metai po J. Jaknavičiaus mirties – 1674 m. The 17th-century lexicon of Veles is almost identical to the 1674 lexicon. The next breakthrough came in 1705. In the late 17th century, the 1988: 276–277) ir tais metais pasirodžiusios J. Jaknavičiaus evangelijos buvo Eastern script was considered to be on the brink of extinction, and the vėlesniems Ewangelie Polskie y Litewskie leidimams (Lučinskienė 2005: 19). Turint omenyje J. Jaknavičiaus evangelijų leidimų panašumą ir skirtumus, Zinkiewicz transliteration was considered to be the middle script. The main material for this article was collected from the first five editions: 1647, 1674, hibridai bei jų vartojimas penkiuose pirmuosiuose Ewangelie Polskie y Litewskie. Tikslas – nustatyti, kaip kito skolinių vartojimas J. Jaknavičiaus evangelijų vertimuose, t. y. kurie skoliniai toje pačioje pozicijoje buvo keisti kitokiais skoli1679, 1690 and 1705. The object of this article is to establish the relationship between Slavicism and the Slavic roots in words, hybrids, savakilm, and vice versa, […] which indigenous words were replaced by words of foreign origin, and the origin of these other borrowings and translations. The aim was to compare the texts of the Ewangelie Polskie y Litewskie published in Lithuanian with the Polish original provided below. SLAVIZMŲ SAMPRATA Dėl aiškumo būtina trumpai užsiminti, kurie slavizmai šiame straipsnyje are considered to be polonisms that are […] borrowings from Eastern Slavs or niais. Įprasta teigti, kad skoliniai – tai įvairių kontaktų (ekonominių, kultūrinių, politinių ir t. t.) metu iš kalbos donorės į kalbą recipientę perimti kalbos school elements of uncertain origin (Jakaitienė 2009: 227), more or less common to all languages (Sabaliauskas 1990: 268). Depending on the origin, borrowings are divided into borrowings from neighboring languages and from distant languages through intermediate languages, i.e. international words. The term polonism is used not only in the West Slavic dialects, which have entered the Lithuanian language directly through the Polish language, but also in the East Slavic dialects, i.e. the LDK dialect, where the morphological structure and semantics of the dialect are identical to the lexical unit of the Polish language. This approach sharpens the line between the classification of international words and Slavic terms in terms of the interpretation of the borrowing path to the borrowing language, so the article follows the traditional opinion that borrowings from neighboring languages are examined according to the last language from which the borrowing came to the recipient language (Jakaitienė 2009: 231-23). For the sake of brevity, without describing the history of neighboring Slavic languages in more detail, it is possible to distinguish such sources of Slavic Lithuanian: the old Russian language, more precisely, its western variant (the oldest ANŽELIKA SMETONIENĖ 54 Acta Linguistica Lithuanica LXXVI Lithuanian language Slavic languages, IX[…]XI century (Būga 1958: 351; LKE 503)), Russian language1 (from the middle of the 15th century), Polish language (old, covering the 15th-16th century, medieval, used until the 18th century, and current Polish language), Polish language dialects, Bulgarian language and its dialects, Ukrainian language and its dialects. The borrowings from the Russian language, the Old Russian language, and the Polish language (which covers the Old and Middle Ages) are relevant to this article. Skoliny, derived directly from Polish, are called polonisms, from Old Russian and Russian rytų slavų. Slavizmai, kurių šaltinis gali būti arba lenkų kalba, arba rytų slavų kalbos, vadinami neaiškios kilmės slavizmais. Tiriant slavizmus neišvengiamai susiduriama su hibridais. Tai žodžiai „be savo, turintys ir kitų kalbų nekaitybinių morfemų“ (LKE 2008: 207). Hibridai paprastai laikomi tarpine grandimi tarp skolinių ir indigenių žodžių (Kei- […] skoliny from nys 1984: 117). There are few hybrids in J. Jaknavičiaus's Gospels, but in some cases the definition of the word of foreign origin is much more precise than Slavism, since the latter does not include words containing Lithuanian-language derivatives. Changes in Speech In the texts of the editions of J. Jakowicz's Evangelie Polska i Litewskae (1664-1679, 1690-1705), there are certain fillings that determine the difference in the number of words of foreign origin in the individual editions. The main difference is that the JEI does not have a "Lithuanian Confession" of about 30 lines in length (JEII 219.1; JEIII 219.1; JEIV 225.1; JEV 212.10). In 1674, a periscope was added, dedicated to St. This Decision shall enter into force on the day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. In addition, in the 1705 edition, a rather long prayer (JEV 213.6[…]214.28) was added, which contains just as many words of foreign origin. In the first editions of the Gospels of J. Jaknavičius, words of unusual foreign origin were found: JEI […] 182; JEII […] 182; JEIII […] 182; JEIV […] 184; JEV […] 194. Although the number of words of foreign origin as units is the same in almost all publications, the frequency of their use varies. This article is concerned with only sixty-five cases, i.e. those where the word "indigenous" was used in later editions in the same position: the Russian language was originally used only as a kanceliarine, but in the middle of the fifteenth century it began to be used widely (Temciana, 47), even in religious texts, so the term "kanceliarine language" used in Lithuanian is not accurate, because it covers only one of its functions. The Russian language is often referred to as the West Russian (Western Russian), the Old Baltic (Old Belarusian), the Old Literary Baltic (Old Belarusian Literary), the Old Ukrainian (Old Ukrainian), the Old Ukrainian Book (Old Ukrainian Book) or even the Polish-Belarusian (Old Polish-Belarusian) language. The cases in question make up only a small part of the JE lexicon, but the variation of the words themselves, taking into account their origin (indigenous <> foreign origin), reveals that Ms Lučinskienė's assertion that the JE lexicon changed mainly in the second edition ANŽELIKA SMETONIENĖ 56 Acta Linguistica Lithuanica LXXVI o po to – 1705 m. (Lučinskienė 2005, 19; Lučinskienė 2001, 118–119), yra visiškai teisingas. Most likely, such changes were influenced by the original text from which the Gospels were translated. LENKIŠKO ORIGINALO ĮTAKA VERTIMUI Yra keli spėjimai, iš kokio šaltinio J. Jaknavičius galėjo išversti evangelijas. Manoma, kad tai galėjo būti padaryta iš Jokūbo Wujeko 1620 m. leidinio EwanThe Gospel and Epistles, published by J. Jacob Postil in Krakow in 1593, was reprinted many times in 1611, 1616, 1617, 1616, 1637, and 1637. One possible source is 1593. The first edition of the Gospel of the New Testament of Jesus Christ was published in 1605, 1617, 1621 and 1622. Thus, JE, like their possible sources, have been leaked on more than one occasion. The words of the Polish text submitted by the JE were compared with the Lithuanian translation in order to determine whether the wording in the second and fifth JE editions was different from that in the first edition, resulting in corrections of the Polish text (see Table 1). However, it should be noted that in the 16th-century Polish vocabulary, only anjoł, anjeł, and in later dictionaries and angioł are mentioned. However, the latter would not have been adopted into Lithuanian as angelas (plg. angiolas (Skardžius 1998: 87)). This indicates that at least the borrowed angel must have traveled from the East Slavic languages. It should be noted that in the Baltic (a[…]нгел), Ukrainian (ангел) and Russian (ангел) languages this word is derived from the Old Russian language, and in the latter it comes from the Old Slavic language, where the word […]γγελος (plg. rusėnų аггелъ) was borrowed from the Old Greek language (ESBM I 112). Meanwhile, the case of the consonants anielas, aniolas in Slavic languages is somewhat different. The original source of the Polish language, anjól, anjól, and so on, is also Old Greek, but the word originally passed through Latin, later […] the Old Czech language (angel), from which it was borrowed into Polish. The word any in the current Bulgarian language has only become established after the emergence of the literary Bulgarian language, so it is quite late. It is a borrowing from the Polish language, widespread in translations (ESBM I 114). In the Old Russian language, such a noun is not appropriate, so it can be assumed that the Russian alphabet, alphabet is a polonism, which entered this language as early as the end of the 14th century, after the formation of the Russian language and the proliferation of polonisms in it after 1385. The second wave of the Polonism began in 1569. However, there is no word in the Russian language that could be a source of an analogy. It can be concluded that the angel in Lithuanian is a loan from eastern Slavs, the angel […] from Polish, Straipsniai / Articles 67 Slaviškos šaknies žodžių vartojimo kitimai Jono Jaknavičiaus Ewangelie Polskie y Litewskie 1647, 1674, 1679, 1690 ir 1705 m. leidimuose angel […] unclear origin, although it is more likely that it is also a polonism. P. Skardžius (Skardžius 1998: 87) also argued that the last two words are polonisms. Išnagrinėjus cases where one word of foreign origin is replaced by another word of foreign origin, it turned out that only in a few places their origin differs: the loan from the eastern Slavic person JEV was replaced by a loan of uncertain origin asaba; In addition, the name of the city is derived from kilmės skolinį anielas. Tai reikštų, kad lenkų kalbos įsigalėjimas XVII a., kol galiausiai ji tapo oficialia, ir didikų sulenkėjimas neturėjo įtakos slavizmų vartojimui JE ir akivaizdūs polonizmai neišstūmė senesnių skolinių. In later editions, when the words indigenous were replaced by loanwords, 14 cases were found (friends, taverns, taverns; the following table is inserted: Other, of tolygus > padabnus, padabnas; veidas (abrozas) > abrozas; viešpatis (gaspadorius) > circular cross-section, of stainless steel regret > pain; peeled off > peeled off; treasure (treasure) > treasure; > the metatarsal; to be harvested; the landlord; the statute (law) > the statute). These changes also occurred mostly in the JEII. How many other words of foreign origin have been replaced by other words of foreign origin (out of a total of 26 cases): not counting angelas, aniolas, anielas chaotiškos reciprocal changes (15 cases) in the first five JE editions, 11 of the remaining 7 pairs occurred only in JEV (abyda > krivida; mieryti > mieruoti; padvarė > gaspada; padvarnykas > gaspad; persona > asaba; bras > tavorš; sugarius > gatava). This is the first time that J. Jakowicz's Gospel Dictionary has been revised since it was published in 1674. In 1705 the situation changed dramatically. svetimos kilmės leksika – tai gali būti susiję su tuo, kad tuo metu šios evangelijos buvo perrašytos viduriniu raštų kalbos variantu, o jame galėjo būti įsigalėję kitokie skoliniai ir hibridai tam pačiam reiškiniui nusakyti. Kad pačių skolinių (ir hibridų šaknies) kilmė visiškai neturėjo įtakos tokiems pokyčiams, rodo ANŽELIKA SMETONIENĖ 70 Acta Linguistica Lithuanica LXXVI the fact that in the first five JE editions the origin of the loanwords (and hybrid roots) differs only in a few other places. Thus, the adoption of the Polish language in the 17th century had no influence on the use of Slavic languages, and the obvious newer Polishisms did not exclude older borrowings. The origin of the Skolin (and hybrid roots) also had no influence on the cases when indigenous Lithuanian words were replaced by words of foreign origin and vice versa. In 1674 and subsequent editions of the JE, the replacement of the loanwords and hybrids with indigenous words most likely for one reason or another withdrew from the Vartosens (only daboti, -oja, -ojo; to serve, to serve, to serve; Other, not further worked than hot-rolled, in coils to show, -ija, -ijo; The ruble is attested in some of the later old Lithuanian scripts (KN, PP, ChNT), and has given way to indigenous words, but this has nothing to do with the origin of the loanwords and hybrids. Indigenous Lithuanian words, which were replaced in 1674 (in some cases in 1705) with words of foreign origin, are abundantly found in other ancient writings and works of the 18th and 19th centuries. This would mean that these words would not have been unclear to the reader and there was no objective reason to replace them with loanwords or hybrids of Slavic roots. Later editions were probably influenced by the language of their authors or the view that some borrowings were more suitable for a religious text. There is no logical linguistic basis in the changes, indicating pairs such as daboti, kad veizdėti, mėgti pasidaboti, metas adyna and adyna valanda. The verb daboti JEV is changed to veizdėti, but in the same permission it appears as pasidaboti, taking the place of the verb mėgti. The word "daikta" was changed to "valanda" in 1674, and in 1705 the word "metas" appeared again. With this in mind, I had no influence on the other cases of words discussed. lenkiško originalo tekstas bei skolinių ir hibridų šaknies kilmė, lieka galimybė, kad šie leksikos pakitimai 1674 m. ir 1705 m. leidimuose buvo nulemti vidinių lietuvių kalbos procesų arba vėlesnius evangelijų leidinius redagavusių žmonių. ANŽELIKA SMETONIENĖ 74 Acta Linguistica Lithuanica LXXVI, containing the following sections: Alternation of Slavic-root words in Ewangelie Polskie y Litewskie by Jonas Jaknavičius from 1647, 1674, 1679, 1690 and 1705 Summary The Polish and Lithuanian Gospels (hereinafter referred to as JG) by Jonas Jaknawicius was released numerous times since 1647. The first edition, as mentioned, is dated 1647, editions of the second 1674 (JEII), the third 1679 (JEIII), the fourth 1690 (JEIV) and the fifth 1705 (JEV). This is very helpful, because same text, released in several decades, may reflect some changes in a language. The object of the article is Slavic-root words in the first five the Polish and Lithuanian Gospels. The aim of the article is to determine how the use of loanwords and hybrids was changing in JE during decades: which loanwords or hybrids in the same position were changed to other loanwords and hybrids or indigenous Lithuanian words, and vice versa […] what indigenous Lithuanian words were replaced with loanwords ges in and hybrids, and determine is there a connection between origin of loanwords and chanoriginal Polish texts and the alternation of loanwords and hybrids in first five editexts. tions of Ewangelie Polskie y Litewskie. To achieve the aim the texts in Lithuanian language in mentioned editions of Ewangelie Polskie y Litewskie were compared with Polish original Although the number of words of foreign origin as units in all JE editions is almost the same, there are differences in usage frequencies. Furthermore, in some cases the indigenous word in later editions is replaced by loanword, sometimes on the contrary a single loanword is replaced by indigenous word or even by another loanword. All cases of alternation of words in JE can be classified: 1. Word of foreign origin in later editions of JE is replaced by indigenous word; 2. Indigenous word in later editions is replaced by word of foreign origin; 3. Loanword is replaced by other loanword. The analysis of records in J.E. leads to the conclusion that there is no connection between the origin of the loanword and its use in later (1674, 1679, 1690, 1705) editions of J.E. Furthermore, alternation of some words in first five editions of JE wasn’t determined by changes in original Polish texts. Delivered on 11 April 2017 ANŽELIKA SMETONIENĖ Lietuvių kalbos institutas The Commission shall be empowered to adopt delegated acts in accordance with Article 26 to supplement this Regulation by laying down detailed rules for the application of this Regulation.
