In 2009, an electronic “English-Lithuanian Military Dictionary” prepared by E. Kisinas was published. The updated revised edition is based on this dictionary. As the author notes in the preface to the dictionary, “[l]ithuanian military terminology is not yet established, so the comments and suggestions received from specialists led to the appearance of the third edition” (p. 5). The translation dictionary contains all the terms of three encyclopedic dictionaries prepared by E. Kisinas (warfare, defense against destruction and artillery), almost all the terms of the NATO Explanatory Dictionary of Terms and about 4000 terms of various military and related fields. The publication is intended for students in military educational institutions, English translators and teachers, all officers, non-commissioned officers and sergeants of the national defence system. Alphabetical list of words. The Lithuanian equivalent is given next to the English term. The Lithuanian equivalents are interspersed. At the beginning of the dictionary there is a short biography of the author, a preface, a description of the dictionary structure, lists of English and Lithuanian abbreviations and acronyms. At the end of the book is a list of “Incorrectly conjugated English verbs” and an English-Lithuanian dictionary of “Historical and obsolete words (compositions of words)”. Some terms are explained in more detail. The publication is primarily intended for psychiatric specialists, as well as psychologists, social educators, lawyers and others interested in psychiatry. Alongside the Lithuanian term, the Latin equivalent is presented and the origin of the international terms is explained. Some of the terms are given the year they were first used. Added synonyms, corrections of non-presentable terms. Lithuanian terms are interspersed. The structure of the dictionary is mixed – some composite terms are presented alphabetically according to the first element of the term, others are grouped into nests and holes according to the main element. There are references to related terms. The search is facilitated by an alphabetical index of Lithuanian terms. The dictionary also includes an “Index of Latin, Greek and other languages” and a list of scholars mentioned in the dictionary, with names and surnames presented in original and adapted form, with biographical data. The Lithuanian-English Military Dictionary and the English-Lithuanian Military Dictionary are prepared on the basis of the same principles and sources, and have the same purpose and structure. The translation dictionary compiled by the senior lecturers of the Lithuanian Military Academy of Foreign Languages General Jonas Žemaitis contains not only aircraft maintenance terms, but also other words and combinations most often used in technical literature and documents in this field. The dictionary was prepared based on the teaching materials of the English language courses and distance learning courses for the Lithuanian Air Force aircraft maintenance engineering technical personnel (mechanics and avionics specialties). It is a follow-up to the 2012 edition of the dictionary of the same name. The dictionary contains 6000 headings and 350 abbreviations. The publication is called a dictionary of terms, but it has more features of a dictionary prepared according to the general principles of lexicography. The articles of the words contain illustrative examples (combinations with terms or other headings), the forms of irregular verbs, the prepositions with which the words are most often used. The publication prepared by LSMU professors has the characteristics of a terminological dictionary. In his preface he writes: "<...> the textbook is not a standard dictionary of cardiology terms. The publication contains terms and terminological combinations from cardiology, related medical fields, as well as biology, genetics, computer science, medical statistics, medical law, psychology, education. The textbook is primarily intended for doctors in residence who read literature in English or attend internships or conferences abroad. Some terms are briefly explained. The title words are arranged alphabetically according to the English title words, the Lithuanian equivalents are presented next to them. The material has been tried to be grouped by topics, some terms are presented in nests. The publication has terminological shortcomings. It explains phobias, which in the book's annotation are described as obsessive fear states that encompass a person in certain situations and cause vegetative disorders. The terms used for phobias are listed in alphabetical order. The term is accompanied by a definition, sometimes with a more detailed explanation. Synonyms have been added to some terms. The origin of the terms is indicated. The introduction explains what fear and phobia are, presents the classifications of phobias proposed by several authors, briefly presents the results of the 2017 study of children’s and adults’ fears, and includes advice from psychologist Aušra Pundzevičienė on how to live with fears.
