A. Kavaliauskas and students of Vilnius Pedagogical University collected dialectological data in the Daukšiai area of Marijampolė district. In total, the staff of the Department of the Great Dictionary of Lithuanian Language collected 2160 words, colleagues from the Department of Language History and Dialectology — about 5000 units of dialect data, recorded 50 hours of dialect texts. Conferences, seminars On 11-12 February, the State Lithuanian Language Commission and the Department of Regional Problems and National Minorities organized a seminar on State Language and Integration (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania). Guests from Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Ukraine participated in the conference and presented their papers. The thesis of the conference is published in a separate publication. On November 6, the Institute’s researchers participated in the international conference “Jono Kazlauskas Day: Historical Grammar Subjects” at Vilnius University. Prof. habil. dr. At the scientific conference Sūduva — in the creation of the Lithuanian state, held in Marijampole on December 17, Prof. Dr. Algirdas Sabaliauskas read a presentation on Sūduva and Lithuanian common language. On December 18, 2018, at the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, doc. dr. Juozas Karaciejus read a presentation on the linguistic features of Merkelis Petkevičius’ Catechism. The event was dedicated to the 400th anniversary of this book. From 8 October 1997 to 31 July 1998, Evija Liparte, a doctoral student of the Institute, was on an internship at the Institute of English Studies of the University of Leipzig with Professor Susan Olsen. From 1 February to 5 July Gina Kavaliūnaitė studied at the Vrije University of Amsterdam with a scholarship from the Dutch Ministry of Education. He attended old and modern Dutch literature and language lectures, passed the 17th century Dutch language exam. On April 1st and June 1st, Ramunė Vaskelaitė, who won a scholarship from the Italian Government in the competition of the Department of Science and Studies, spent an internship at the University of Perugia. On April 1st and June 30th Vytautas Kardelis spent an internship at the University of Münster, where he gave lectures on Lithuanian dialectology to Baltic students. On April 1st and June 30th Loreta Vaicekauskienė spent an internship at the University of Copenhagen with a scholarship to support doctoral students from the Baltic countries. On 16-17 April 2008, at the international symposium Balticum 98, organized by the Institute of Baltic Studies of Greifswald University. Politik —Wirtschaft —Kultur was attended by Dr. Artūras Judžentis. On August 17-21, PhD student Jolanta Gaivenytė participated in the 15th Summer School of Terminology, which was held in Vienna. The participants attended lectures on terminology standardization and terminology work management, learned how to work with the computerized terminology database “Multiterm”. October 1-10 Prof. Dr. Vytautas Ambrazas trained in Italy at the invitation of the University of Parma, he was interested in researching and publishing ancient Lithuanian language monuments. On 2-7 November Vid Garliauskas worked in the library of the Copernicus University of Toruń, where he got acquainted with the Crusader archives. 258
