WOODSTOCK Climate-smart use of wood in construction 1 November 2024 to 31 October 2028 The Horizon Europe project WoodStock develops climate-smart solutions to increase the use of underutilised wood (hardwood, low-quality wood, post-consumer wood, and damaged wood) in the European construction sector. Through a Living Lab approach, the project promotes sustainable wood construction practices and advances the circular economy. WoodStock supports the New European Bauhaus (NEB) by implementing solutions that are “beautiful, sustainable and inclusive”. The ambitions of WoodStock are to measure and map wood resources by tracking material flows, calculating carbon accounting, and applying a robust dynamic Life Cycle Assessment (d-LCA) method develop zero-waste, circular designs for products and buildings that prioritise human health and well-being create frameworks to help shape policies, innovation, and business strategies establish a European Wood Construction Observatory and NEB Lab Funded by the European Union. WoodBook - an open-source digital catalogue with practical and eco-friendly solutions for architects, designers, and construction professionals WoodBook will promote the reuse of wooden structures and innovative building approaches using reclaimed wood. It will include various building element and construction nodes, for various architectural typologies: new buildings renovation and adaptive reuse of existing structures regeneration of degraded city areas and neighbourhoods Training materials for circular design with underutilised wood WoodStock training materials, including instructional videos, educational presentations, and infographics, covering dynamic life cycle assessment (d-LCA), circular and zero-waste concepts, building blueprints, circular design guidelines, and climate-smart business strategies, will be available on the NEB Academy Collaboration platform by 2028.
