Virtual assistants, chat bots, image classification, facial recognition, object recognition, speech recognition, machine translation, and robotic perception are just a few of the uses of artificial intelligence (AI), despite its recent mainstreaming. Machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, robotics, and expert systems are all included in the study of artificial intelligence (AI). Machine learning, which uses statistical models and algorithms to allow computers to learn from and adjust to data inputs without explicit programming, is at the heart of artificial intelligence. Machines can recognize patterns, anticipate outcomes, and maximize data-driven decision-making through methods such as supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning. Supervised Learning: This kind of machine learning involves training a model using labeled data, which consists of inputoutput pairs. Learning a mapping from inputs (features) to outputs (labels) using the given training data is the aim of supervised learning. The model can forecast the result for novel, invisible inputs once it has been trained.
IJAAR Vol. 6 No. 38 ISSN – 2347-7075 Ms. Archana S. Ghogare 72 Unsupervised Learning: Unlabeled data is used to train models in unsupervised learning. With this method, the algorithm looks for relationships, structures, or patterns in the incoming data without being given goal labels or explicit outputs. It is applied when input data is available but the intended output or categorization is unknown beforehand. Reinforcement and Semi-supervised Learning: Semi-supervised learning is in the middle between supervised and unsupervised learning. It can improve learning accuracy and efficiency by using a lot of unlabeled data (unsupervised) and a small amount of annotated data (supervised). The Role of AI in Modern Cyber Security: The use of artificial intelligence in cyber security is growing in significance. Real-time monitoring, analysis, detection, and response to cyber threats are all possible with AI-powered cyber security. In addition to scanning the entire network for vulnerabilities to stop common types of cyber attacks, AI algorithms may also analyze vast volumes of data to find patterns that point to a cyber threat. It is used for real-time cyber threat detection and prevention, which is a crucial tool for businesses trying to protect their systems and sensitive data. Applying machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to improve computer systems, networks, and data protection against a range of cyber threats is known as AI in cyber security. To defend against a variety of cyber attacks, it entails utilizing AI models and algorithms to automate processes, identify irregularities, and make defensible judgments in real time. The main function of AI is to track and examine patterns of behavior. AI can identify anomalous behavior and prevent unwanted access to systems by using these patterns to establish a baseline. Additionally, AI can assist with risk prioritization, real-time malware detection, and early intrusion. When used effectively, artificial intelligence (AI) may power security automation, which frees up staff members' time and resources by automating tedious operations. By eliminating people from a task or procedure, AI can also lessen the likelihood of human error. How Is AI Cyber Security Different? Artificial intelligence-powered cyber security protection will never completely replace security experts because the workplace will always require innovative problemsolving techniques and more difficult problems. However, by analyzing enormous volumes of data, identifying trends, and producing insights based on security data, AI may and already does help human security experts. Using conventional security procedures, this could take hours or even weeks to finish. Prior to the advent of artificial intelligence, security specialists relied on signature-based detection methods and algorithms to identify potential cyber threats. These security tools scan incoming network traffic for malicious code signatures or known threats. When a threat is recognized, the system generates an alert and recommends the security expert to take preventative or quarantine measures. When it comes to known threats, this signature-based security strategy has proven to be rather effective. However, it has been demonstrated that the signature-based detection strategy is insufficient to combat novel or unknown threats. All too frequently, these tools resulted in an increase in false positives, wasting time and sending security specialists on futile searches.
IJAAR Vol. 6 No. 38 ISSN – 2347-7075 Ms. Archana S. Ghogare 73 Manual analysis is also a major component of traditional cyber security. Security alarms and event logs must be carefully examined by security analysts to look for any recognizable patterns that can point to a possible security breach. It can take a long time to examine logs and events, and businesses cannot afford to rely only on one security analyst to do this. These and other issues with conventional cyber security can be resolved by AI. As this technology develops further, it will significantly affect cyber security personnel and procedures. Areas Where AI Can Be Used in Cyber Security: 1. Anomaly Detection: The ability of AI to learn and adapt will contribute to the subtlety of anomaly detection systems. AI threat detection in network security is concerned with keeping an eye on network traffic in order to spot odd trends or anomalies. AI systems can identify signs of malware outbreaks, hacking, and data breaches and provide real-time alerts by utilizing machine learning and data analytics. 2. SOC Team Support: When faced with vast volumes of data, human analysts may be slower to spot any dangers, and AI can quickly catch up to them. Combining the strength of AI and cyber security, especially with the Security Operations Center (SOC) personnel, can speed up access to data from multiple sources. This allows the SOC team to concentrate on highpriority issues and react to threats more rapidly. 3. Penetration Testing: Penetration testing is another AI in Cyber security example as it can be automated with Co-Pilots AI, which will enhance the process and help security professionals efficiently identify vulnerabilities in the pipeline. A penetration tester can utilize AI tools in order to help deliver faster and more reliable threat intelligence and security testing results. Figure 1: Areas Where AI Can Be Used in Cyber Security 4. SAST Co-Pilots with GitHub Integration: Early in the development process, SAST, a security testing tool, examines source code to find possible security flaws. AI and Static Application Security Testing (SAST) tools can be integrated directly within the IDE (Integrated Development Environment) to do this. Key AI Technologies in Cyber Security 1. Machine Learning (ML): A type of artificial intelligence called machine learning (ML) allows computers to learn from data and get better without the need for explicit programming. User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA), which

Deep Learning: A subset of machine learning called deep learning analyzes complicated data using neural networks and is very good at spotting sophisticated cyber security risks like changing virus strains. Deep learning is used in cyber security to identify polymorphic malware, which is malware that continuously modifies its code to avoid detection by conventional techniques. 3. Neural Networks: AI models called neural networks are modeled after the architecture of the human brain. They have nodes that use weighted inputs to process data. Every node assesses its input and modifies weights to increase precision. The outcome is based on the sum of these evaluations. Neural networks are a valuable tool for threat detection in cyber security because they can scan large amounts of data, like firewall logs, to find trends and anticipate possible threats. 4. Large Language Models (LLMs): GPT-4 and other large language models (LLMs) are important AI tools in cyber security. LLMs are very helpful for automating threat assessments and enhancing security responses since they specialize in analyzing and comprehending human language. In order to find possible threats and patterns that would indicate an attack, these models are able to sort through enormous volumes of text data, including threat reports, logs, and documentation. Conclusion: AI is quickly transforming the field of cyber security by giving businesses strong tools for identifying and thwarting online threats. By enabling AI-powered firewalls that stop malware and machine learning algorithms that identify anomalies in network traffic, it has assisted numerous enterprises in staying one step ahead of hackers. While being mindful of the ethical ramifications and possible hazards, organizations must strategically implement AI technologies. AI will play a crucial role in cyber security in the future as it processes massive data sets and can identify trends and patterns of new attack fronts as the many dangers in cyberspace continue to materialize. AI's contribution to cyber security will only grow as the technology develops. Threat detection and response capabilities could be further improved by innovations like quantum AI and more sophisticated language models. Any company should implement a well-thought-out and collaborative AI strategy to cyber security in order to increase the adaptability and efficiency of its security posture. AI will likely be utilized in increasingly complex cyber attacks, so businesses will need to remain alert and update their security often. In order to protect our digital assets and ensure online integrity, artificial intelligence will play a bigger role in enabling defenses against the constantly expanding threat landscape.
