Magnetosheath proton density and temperature as derived from data-constrained modeling
Abstract
This upload contains (1) two satellite data files used to create and validate an empirical model of the Earth's magnetosheath proton density and thermal energy, (2) the data format description file, (3) two fortran sample codes to calculate the magnetosheath proton density and energy, (4) two parameter files needed as input for the fortran codes, and (5) a pdf file with a brief description of this upload content. All the above files are packed in a single zip archive 2025JA034343.zip.

The zip-archive 2025JA034343.zip contains: 1. Two data files, named Grand_training_set_MSh_Msp_CLS_THX_MMS_ver041025.dat and Grand_validatn_set_MSh_Msp_CLS_THX_MMS_ver041025.dat, are used in the generation and validation of the magnetosheath proton density and thermal energy model. 2. A corresponding format description file, named Data_format.txt. 3. Two fortran sample programs: Magnetosheath_density_sample_code.for, and Magnetosheath_energy_sample_code.for; calculate the magnetosheath plasma parameters, as described in the JGRA article 2025JA034343 by N. A. Tsyganenko, N. T. Gubaidulin, V. S. Semenov, and N. V. Erkaev, entitled "Magnetosheath proton density and temperature as derived from data-constrained modeling ". 4. Two auxiliary files with the model parameters, named Density_Best_par_so_far_em6.par and Energy_Best_par_so_far_em6.par, must be present in the same folder as the above fortran codes.
