On the one hand, it increases the efficiency, accuracy, and speed of laboratory analysis. On the other hand, the implementation of automated systems faces a number of challenges that require a professional approach. Research objective: To assess the challenges and opportunities of automation in laboratory quality control. Materials and methods: Analytical methods (content analysis, synthesis, comparison methods, and expert evaluation). Results: One of the main challenges of automation is the difficulty of integrating new technologies into existing production processes. Quality control systems, which are commonly used in laboratories, are not always implemented using instrumental methods or lack modern equipment. This can lead to high initial costs for acquiring equipment that is compatible with modern automated solutions. Introducing automated solutions can be intimidating and stressful for employees in the early stages. Professionals must be prepared to handle new tasks related to managing automated systems and analyzing the data generated. In addition, as automation increases, so do the risks of cybersecurity and data loss. Laboratories that use automated systems must invest in data protection and data storage technologies. Despite the existing challenges, automated quality control systems offer tremendous opportunities. Firstly, automation improves the accuracy and speed of laboratory analyses. It reduces the risk of human errors and provides a transparent process for monitoring the results obtained in the laboratory. As a result, the implementation of automated quality control systems allows for more efficient use of laboratory resources. By minimizing human errors, it reduces the cost of repeated analyses and enhances overall productivity. Additionally, automation promotes the standardization of methods and processes, enabling them to adapt to changes in current standards and requirements. In this way, laboratories can ensure that their processes meet modern quality requirements. Secondly, automation allows for real-time data collection and analysis. This allows for earlier detection of deviations in processes, leading to prompt responses and reduced costs associated with potential product defects. The analysis of large data sets enables the identification of potential issues and the optimization of processes, resulting in significant improvements in efficiency. Technologies such as blockchain offer new opportunities in the field of drug distribution, which is particularly important in the context of combating counterfeit medicines. Conclusions: Automation of quality control in laboratories presents both significant opportunities and serious challenges. This process requires a professional approach to solving the issues that arise. By understanding and overcoming the challenges associated with automation, laboratories can achieve a new level of efficiency and reliability, ensuring the high quality and safety of their products.
