INTRODUCTION The contemporary global economy is undergoing fundamental transformations driven by the increasing importance of sustainability and innovation. The challenges of climate change, environmental degradation, and socio-economic inequality necessitate a rethinking of traditional management paradigms. Enterprises can no longer be guided solely by profit maximization; instead, they must integrate principles of sustainable development into their strategic and operational frameworks. The concept of sustainable development, introduced in the Brundtland Report (1987) and reinforced by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), has become a guiding principle for both policymakers and business leaders. In the modern economy, enterprises are expected to balance economic efficiency with ecological responsibility and social inclusion. This balance requires the creation of innovative management models that not only address market competition but also ensure long-term resilience and alignment with sustainability standards. Traditional management models, focused predominantly on short-term financial gains, often fail to account for environmental costs or social impacts. Consequently, the transition to sustainable and innovative models has become an essential strategic necessity for enterprises. Innovation plays a central role in this transformation. Sustainable development cannot be achieved without technological advancements, new business models, and organizational restructuring. Enterprises must adopt innovative approaches in production, supply chains, energy consumption, and waste management to ensure resource efficiency and reduce negative ecological footprints. Furthermore, corporate governance and human resource management must evolve to foster creativity, inclusivity, and ethical behavior. International experience demonstrates that innovative management models based on sustainability principles enhance competitiveness. European companies that integrated circular economy principles, for example, have reduced operational costs and improved brand reputation. Japanese corporations have successfully employed lean production methods that minimize waste while maximizing efficiency. Similarly, Scandinavian
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INTERDISCIPLINARY SCIENCE Volume 02, Issue 10, 2025 125 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INTERDISCIPLINARY SCIENCE universalconference.us enterprises lead in combining digital technologies with sustainability to achieve green innovations. In Uzbekistan and other developing economies, the concept of sustainable development is gradually being embedded into business practices. Government strategies emphasize the need for modernization, ecological responsibility, and integration into the global green economy. However, many enterprises still face challenges in aligning management practices with sustainability due to limited financial resources, technological gaps, and institutional barriers. The introduction of this article thus establishes the relevance of creating innovative enterprise management models grounded in sustainable development. Such models are essential not only for corporate competitiveness but also for ensuring long-term economic growth, social progress, and environmental protection. The aim of this study is to analyze the theoretical foundations, international best practices, and practical approaches for developing an innovative enterprise management model based on the concept of sustainable development, and to provide recommendations applicable to emerging economies such as Uzbekistan. LITERATURE ANALYSIS AND METHODOLOGY The concept of sustainable development has been extensively discussed in academic literature since the late 20th century. The Brundtland Report (1987) first introduced the idea of meeting present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own. Since then, sustainability has been expanded to encompass economic, social, and environmental dimensions, often referred to as the “triple bottom line.” Elkington (1997) formalized this framework, emphasizing that enterprises should not only focus on financial performance but also consider social equity and environmental integrity. The management literature has increasingly addressed the integration of sustainability into corporate governance. Porter and Kramer (2011) introduced the concept of “shared value,” suggesting that companies can enhance competitiveness while simultaneously addressing social challenges. This approach bridges the gap between profitability and sustainability, framing innovation as a necessary condition for long-term success. Scholars such as Hart and Milstein (1999) have highlighted the role of innovation in achieving sustainable development. Their studies demonstrate that technological advancements and process innovations enable enterprises to reduce ecological impacts while improving efficiency. Similarly, Nidumolu, Prahalad, and Rangaswami (2009)
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INTERDISCIPLINARY SCIENCE Volume 02, Issue 10, 2025 126 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INTERDISCIPLINARY SCIENCE universalconference.us argue that sustainability is the key driver of innovation in the 21st century, as companies that adopt green technologies and sustainable practices gain strategic advantages. In addition to Western perspectives, Asian models of sustainable management have also attracted scholarly attention. Japanese firms, for example, pioneered lean production and kaizen principles, which focus on continuous improvement, waste reduction, and efficiency. These principles align closely with sustainable development goals and illustrate how cultural and managerial traditions can foster sustainability. In the context of developing economies, researchers such as Sachs and Stiglitz emphasize the necessity of adopting sustainability-oriented management to overcome structural challenges. They argue that sustainable development requires not only corporate innovations but also institutional reforms and supportive government policies. In Uzbekistan, Abdurakhmanov and Yo‘ldoshev have analyzed the role of sustainability in industrial modernization, noting that enterprises must shift from resource-intensive practices to knowledge-based and innovation-driven models. The literature indicates that enterprises adopting sustainability-oriented management models benefit from enhanced competitiveness, improved stakeholder relations, and long-term risk mitigation. However, challenges remain in operationalizing sustainability, including the lack of standardized metrics, high initial investment costs, and resistance to organizational change. Overall, the review of literature underscores that sustainable development is not an alternative but a necessity for modern management. The creation of innovative management models based on sustainability principles is crucial for achieving competitive advantage and aligning corporate goals with societal expectations. The methodology of this study is based on a multidisciplinary and systemic approach. It integrates economic, managerial, and environmental perspectives to provide a holistic understanding of the innovative management model based on sustainable development. First, the descriptive method was employed to analyze the theoretical foundations of sustainable development and its application in management systems. Academic literature, policy documents, and corporate sustainability reports were examined to identify the principles and practices of sustainable management.

Case studies from Europe, Asia, and North America were reviewed to determine how enterprises in different contexts integrate sustainability into their management systems. This comparative perspective allows identifying best practices that can be adapted to the Uzbek context. Third, the study utilized structural-functional analysis to examine the role of management functions in sustainable enterprise models. The functions of planning, organization, motivation, and control were analyzed to determine how they change under sustainability principles. For example, planning in sustainable enterprises incorporates long-term ecological risks, while motivation emphasizes corporate responsibility and ethical standards. Fourth, expert evaluation methods were employed to gather insights from economists, managers, and policymakers in Uzbekistan. Semi-structured interviews and surveys were conducted to understand the challenges enterprises face in implementing sustainable practices and the opportunities they see for innovation in management. Finally, foresight analysis was applied to predict future trends in sustainable enterprise management. Scenarios were developed based on global sustainability challenges, such as climate change, digitalization, and resource scarcity. These scenarios help outline the long-term prospects for innovative management models. The integration of these methods ensures that the research is comprehensive, capturing both theoretical and practical dimensions of sustainable management. RESULTS The results of the study show that innovative enterprise management models based on sustainable development principles have significant potential to enhance competitiveness and resilience. First, the integration of sustainability into strategic planning improves long-term risk management. Enterprises that account for ecological and social factors in decisionmaking are better equipped to adapt to regulatory changes, market fluctuations, and stakeholder demands. In Uzbekistan, enterprises that introduced energy-efficient technologies reported reduced operational costs and improved access to international markets.
