Diagnosis of Xylella fastidiosa: detection on dormant plants, important for Mediterranean countries (Xf-DORM) Funding Non-competitive funding mechanism. Each funder only pays for the participation of their own national researchers, Total funding €337 000 Picture 1 Picture 1 Picture 1 Goals Xylella fastidiosa is a priority quarantine bacterium for the EU that can infect more than 900 plant species and it is the causal agent of numerous plant diseases. Our main goal was to validate a tool that can detect the bacterium during the dormant season which is important for trade and the early detection of the bacterium. Research consortium ANSES (FR), AVR (AU), NSW DPI (AU), ILVO (BE), IVIA (ES), DEFRA (UK), SASA (UK), MOAG (IL), CNR (IT), CREA (IT), INRA (MA), NVWA (NL), NARC (PS), NIB (SI), USDA (USA), Agdia (USA) Contact information Project coordinator: Anne-Laure Boutigny [email protected] Key outputs and results Xylella fastidiosa can be accurately detected and its subspecies identified in dormant plants. Objectives The objectives of the project were to evaluate (i) the performance of several molecular protocols for the detection and identification of Xylella fastidiosa subspecies in infected dormant plant samples and (ii) the detection of Xylella fastidiosa in woody stems naturally infected throughout the year including during dormancy. 01/2023-03/2025
