PRESS RELEASE The ACT4CAP27 2nd Stakeholder Workshop convened today in Brussels, bringing together project partners, policymakers, researchers, and other stakeholders to strengthen analytical capacity and collaborative technical infrastructure for EU agri-food policy evaluation post-2027. The workshop provided a platform to discuss policy modelling challenges, co-design solutions, and align research outputs with EU priorities on sustainable, resilient, and inclusive food systems. The Challenges in Policy Analysis and Modelling The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) remains a cornerstone of the European Union’s efforts to support agriculture, ensure food security, and foster rural development. In the current policy landscape, EU priorities focus on enhancing resilience, sustainability, and competitiveness of agri-food systems. Existing quantitative modelling tools face challenges in fully capturing complex interactions across economic, social, environmental, and climate dimensions of EU food policies. ACT4CAP27 addresses these gaps by developing an enhanced, modular modelling toolbox, fostering collaboration across the EU policy modelling community, and providing evidence to support informed decision-making. Advancing Analytical Capacity for EU Agri-Food Policies ACT4CAP27 is a European research initiative designed to enhance analytical capabilities, tools, and collaborative infrastructure for policy modelling. By integrating and improving established models such as CAPRI, GLOBIOM, MAGNET, and AGMEMOD, ACT4CAP27 allows policymakers and analysts to assess the potential impacts of agrifood policies at local, national, and EU-wide levels. The project also emphasizes stakeholder engagement, ensuring that research outputs address real-world challenges and support the design of evidence-based policies that are effective, equitable, and environmentally sustainable. Workshop Highlights The workshop focused on interactive discussions and knowledge exchange between project partners and external stakeholders. Key sessions included: •Reviewing current and future EU agri-food policy priorities post-2027 •Exploring enhancements to policy modelling frameworks and modular tools •Discussing methods for evaluating economic, social, environmental, and climate impacts •Engaging stakeholders in co-designing analytical tools and assessing policy scenarios •Strengthening collaboration and technical infrastructure for the EU policy modelling community Participants shared insights on the importance of linking policy objectives with measurable indicators, identifying trade-offs and synergies, and fostering a community of practice for EU food system modelling. Next Steps Outputs from the workshop will feed into the refinement of ACT4CAP27’s modular toolbox, policy modelling frameworks, and stakeholder engagement strategies. Results will inform upcoming deliverables and contribute to evidence-based discussions on CAP and EU food system policies post-2027.
