Voc4Cat: the first catalysis-specific SKOS vocabulary

Moustakas, David Linke Shared, machine readable vocabularies are essential for FAIR[1] data annotation, machine consumption and data reuse. In the field of catalysis, no such vocabulary existed which motivated the creation of Voc4Cat. Voc4Cat is a collection of terms (≈500 in Oct. 2025, structured under 4 top-concepts) from catalysis and related fields, each with a unique persistent identifier (URI) and a community-curated definition. Voc4Cat is a sustainable resource, guided by the O3 guidelines[2]: Open data (CC0 licensed, documentation under CC-BY), Open tools (voc4cat-tool[3], voc4cat-template[4], and a Python Package[5] all under an open license), and Open infrastructure (GitHub for hosting code, documentation, and the vocabulary resource, and w3id.org service for the permanent URIs).
