Introduction Through our focus on quality and accuracy in the execution of tests and experiments, we are building valuable expertise. This expertise is something that needs to be disseminated and the collaboration with the wide ecosystem of EDIHs offers a unique opportunity to do so. We believe that sharing our knowledge and experience helps strengthen the services of the EDIHs so that they can operate at a high professional level. Our aim is to make this expertise available to the EDIHs so that they can build on our experience. This will enable them to provide high-quality services that meet professional standards and adequately address the needs of their clients. This effort helps strengthen the quality of testing facilities and experimental capabilities within the broader landscape of the agri-food sector. The European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) consist of a network of hubs across Europe that support companies, with a specific focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in adopting innovative technologies. A key function of the EDIHs is to provide training and demonstration activities so that companies can understand and effectively implement digital solutions. AgrifoodTEF will work with the network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) and provide them with relevant training to accelerate the uptake of well-proven innovations in the market. To this end, agrifoodTEF will develop various training programmes, offering formats such as "Train the Trainer", as well as assembling a pool of highly specialised experts in the field of Data, AI and robotics applications for hands-on training. In this way, AgrifoodTEF and the EDIHs will benefit from the mutual collaboration in several ways, both in the human capital training segment as well as in the form of highly skilled experts for specific workshops tailored to the very individual programme formats of the EDIHs. In this way, we want to ensure our common goal and help trusted innovations to establish themselves on the market more quickly. AgrifoodTEF will facilitate access to available trainings and demonstrations to increase knowledge and skills of advanced digital technologies. To ensure that partners within agrifoodTEF provide high-quality training and demonstration activities, it is important to collect and document information on these activities. This information can be used to identify best practices, share knowledge and improve the overall quality of TEF services. The report covers several key topics. It begins with an introduction, followed by an exploration of European digital innovation hubs (EDIHs), including an overview of the EDIH catalogue, thematic working groups and the role of EDIHs within AgrifoodTEF. It then focuses on training programs, discussing the importance of ensuring their relevance and effectiveness and providing examples of training developed through interdisciplinary collaboration. Furthermore, the report introduces the AgrifoodTEF training catalogue, explaining the purpose of the catalogue, the objectives behind compiling the AgrifoodTEF training and demonstration activities, and the methods for documenting these activities. Finally, the report presents a detailed roadmap for the training catalogue as a guide for training development and implementation. 101100622/agrifoodTEF AGRIFOOD TEF D5.12 Training catalogue development Y1 June 28th, 2024 7 Horizontal logo 2. European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) The Digital Europe program encompasses the establishment of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs), strategically positioned to offer specialized technological expertise and state-of-the-art experimentation facilities. This initiative is poised to spearhead the digital transformation not only within the agrifood industry but also across the public sector. The EDIHs serve as pivotal centers, drawing from the rich pool of experiences and invaluable insights gleaned from the successes of existing Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) like SmartAgriHubs and AgRoboFood. These newly formed EDIHs leverage this knowledge to further enhance their offerings, providing a robust foundation for fostering innovation and digitalization within the agrifood landscape. This framework, which is individually refined by each EDIH with specific programmes, offers a range of opportunities for cooperation between the hubs and the AgrifoodTEF project. From the perspective of the AgrifoodTEF project, special ‘train the trainer’ sessions and interactive demonstrations tailored to EDIHs are particularly useful here. These training and demonstrations will facilitate practical experiences, allowing stakeholders to explore and understand the functionalities of these experimental facilities. These training courses and demonstrations provide participants with practical insights that enable them to make effective use of the potential of digital technologies. The collaboration between AgrifoodTEF and EDIHs will highlight a shared commitment to catalysing digital transformation and equipping individuals and organisations with key skills and resources essential for success in the dynamic field of agrifood innovation. Thematic working groups The Thematic Working Groups (TWGs) of the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) were developed and officially established as part of the implementation of the European Union's Digital Europe Program. The thematic working groups of the EDIH Network, aim to promote interaction, exchange ideas and foster cooperation within the EDIH Network. It is important for agrifoodTEF to promote the Agrifood Working Group initiative as part of our efforts to build this collaboration with the EDIHs. Creating the Agrifood Thematic Working Group, an initiative pushed by agrifoodTEF, will be a crucial step in bringing together expertise and resources to accelerate digital innovation in the agrifood sector. A total of 11 thematic working groups will be established. Several working groups have already started their activities, while others, such as the agrifood working group, will start in 2024. Both the EDIHs and agrifoodTEF strive to offer trainings and transfer knowledge. As agrifoodTEF aspires to become sustainable, we need to carefully explore our options for collaboration with the EDIHs to identify synergies and complement each other without creating competition. The Agrifood Working Group on EDIHs will focus specifically on innovation and collaboration within the agrifood sector, with the goal of promoting the development of digital innovation hubs (EDIHs). This group will bring together stakeholders from the agrifood sector, including companies, research institutions, governments and other stakeholders. They will work together to identify challenges and opportunities within the sector and develop strategies and programs to stimulate and support innovation. This collaboration will enable EDIHs and also agrifoodTEF to develop effective training programs and support services tailored to the specific needs of agrifood-related companies and organizations. 2.3. EDIHs within AgrifoodTEF AgrifoodTEF partners in Austria, Sweden and Spain that will become a node in 2024, are also part of an EDIH, while Belgium is part of a DIH. In Poland, PCSS & L-PIT will become part of the EDIH, but they are not yet fully operational. These partners share knowledge and expertise, develop training programmes and test and implement innovative technologies in the agrifood sector. Their joint efforts contribute to strengthening the European agrifood ecosystem. To ensure the relevance and effectiveness of the training programmes, it is essential to understand the needs of EDIHs and their stakeholders. We are therefore preparing an initial needs assessment, which will initially be reviewed and conducted by the partners of the agrifoodTEF consortium, who are also EDIH partners. Next, the needs assessment will be analysed and improved in order to then bid it out to all EDIHs that are part of the AgroFood for EDIHs working group. The results of the needs assessment will form the basis for the development of the agrifoodTEF training catalogue.
