AGRIFOODTEF Portal June 28th, 2024 8 Horizontal logo 2. Approach A two-steps approach had been applied for development and implementation of the agrifoodTEF portal for making the catalogue of services available on the internet. A first version has been implemented (catalogue.agrifoodtef.eu) with the MKdocs tool in order to comply with the objective of making the catalogue public available at the end of year 1. 2.1. Portal discussion As a first step, we conducted a survey in the first 6 months to determine the needs and capacities, enabling us to create a portal that effectively communicates the brand's message, provides a positive user experience, and meets its target audience's needs during the website design process. Below you find the questions and outcomes: 1. What basic functions do you think the portal should have? • Promote agrifoodTEF • Promote services • Contact form • Build the stakeholders community (interact) • Promote EU wide events • Promote national events • Publish blog or other media • Publish deliverables 2. Who is the target audience of the portal and what are their needs and preferences? • SMEs • Start-ups • DIHs – EDIHs • Technology providers • Agrifood Business • Industry association • Competence centers (CC) and Research organisations • Corporates • Farmer associations • Farmers • European commission • National Public authorities 3. Organisation of the website: centralization vs decentralization? • Balance approach: EU agrifood portal is the main communication tool at EU level, Node websites are the main communication tools at local level, services and customer relation are at node level 4. Visual identity and formats? • One visual identity, format and structure for all, agrifoodTEF and Nodes portal, rather strict approach
AGRIFOODTEF Portal June 28th, 2024 9 Horizontal logo • Nodes have a certain degree of freedom as long as they align with the main project visual identity • Same look and feel - we need to define minimum visual identity rules. 5. Extra functionality to be offered? • Training (Trainings and webinars offered) • Knowledge base/ document library • Calendar • Matchmaking 6. Online catalogue - Links to the Smart Agri Hubs (SAH) Community? • AgrifoodTEF portal should start from scratch. Easier if it is in one central place - one catalogue: click on service: shows details: e.g. location: by clicking the customer is redirected to the chosen node/sats website or provided with a contact. • Open source shop system and use just the product overview to show the services for example: https://github.com/spree/spree 7. Governance of the website? • WP communication lead 8. Capacity to design websites? • Some partners have the capacity. For example RISE has capacity to design and produce the website and portal. Central or other design. As a state-owned research institute we can commit long term. • RISE is also part of three TEFs and one data space action (mobility) and some EDIHs, hence can coordinate uniform approach. 9. Sustainability: Are you interested being involved in the long-term sustainability of the website? • Yes, RISE is looking for Websites - for visibility and promoting AgriFood TEF and Portal for providing access to content that supports the functioning of the TEFs that could involve several (all?) TEFs, probably as a part of the CSA. In addition to these requirements, other important criteria were also integrated: 1. User Experience: The website design should provide an optimal user experience for visitors. This means that the website should be easy to navigate, visually appealing, and have a clear and concise layout. 2. Responsiveness: The website should be responsive, meaning it should be able to adjust to different screen sizes and devices, such as mobile phones, tablets, and desktop computers. 3. Accessibility: The website design should be accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. This means that the website should comply with accessibility guidelines and standards. 4. Fast Loading: The website should load quickly to prevent visitors from losing patience and leaving the website. This can be achieved by optimizing images, reducing HTTP requests, and compressing files. 5. Search Engine Optimization: The website should be designed with SEO in mind to improve its visibility and ranking on search engines. 6. Content Management: The website should be easy to manage and update. This can be achieved by using a content management system (CMS) like WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla. 7. Security: The website should be secure to protect it from hacking, malware, and other security threats. This can be achieved by using SSL encryption, strong passwords, and regular software updates. 8. Branding: The website design should reflect AgrifoodTEF identity and be consistent with other branding materials.
