Session Comittee Waseda Academic Solution (WAS) Speakers (3 people) Honami Numajiri Research and Development Laboratory, Kyoto University Library Naoyuki Sunami Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands) Atsushi Kanamaru (moderator) Waseda Academic Solution Recently in Japan, public research funding programs increasingly require establishing Data Management Plans (DMPs), outlining policies for managing research data. As a result, establishing Research Data Management (RDM) frameworks within institutions has become an urgent priority. Currently, international RDM efforts in Europe have advanced practical models for supporting research institutions and researchers via systematic data management and utilization efforts centered on the profession called "Data Steward." However, there is a lack of sufficient progress in the introduction and support system of such specialized roles in Japan. In this session, we will present the Data Steward system and training frameworks in Europe and discuss challenges for implementing RDM in Japan from an international perspective. We will also highlight professional skills and the impact of introducing and adopting RDM on research activities. Furthermore, we will explore ways of advancing RDM in Japan based on the Netherlands' examples and shed light on administration-related topics such as cooperation with library and office staff, research support, and data management and utilization. 写真 3 cm * 3 cm After earning my PhD in social psychology from the University of Delaware in the US, I worked as a data steward at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. Currently, I support research data management (RDM) from the perspectives of open science, ethics, and privacy. I work toward building a fair and inclusive international research community through advancing open data, open source, and data utilization based on the FAIR principles. While working as a staff member at the National Research Institute, I obtained a master’s degree from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, and then advanced to the doctoral program at the same university. My research focuses on analyzing the impact of open data on research activities. I also studied the practical implementation of the data steward system at Leiden University in the Netherlands. Currently, I research open science and the utilization of research data and promote open publishing at the Kyoto University Library. 写真 3 cm * 3 cm As a group company of Waseda University, we develop support businesses in 6 areas: university administration, education, internationalization, research, IT, and societal cooperation. For our research support efforts, we provide services such as research acquisition and administration, outreach, education research consulting, and social valuation of research outcomes. This July, we hosted solutions seminar "The Future of Universities by Immediate OA—For improving Research, Education, and International Competitiveness." (formerly) in 2003 and gained experience in multiple departments. During my assignment to the university's publishing division, I was involved in publishing academic books and earthquake-related booklets as well as promoting e-books and English-language publications. Taking the Open Access Acceleration Project as a turning point, I engaged in related operations, training development, and planning and managing seminars. Currently, I have a strong interest in the open access of academic books and the utilization of research data.
