PDS Atmospheric Modeling Annex: Extending the PDS4 Information Model

Neakrase, Lynn

Abstract

The PDS4 Archiving Standard is an international standard for planetary data through the International Planetary Data Allicance (IPDA). The PDS4 Information Model has been extended with the creation of 'External' products to allow non-standard data products to be registered with PDS.

PDS Atmospheric Modeling Annex: Extending the PDS4 Information Model •The PDS4 Archiving Standard requires vetted acceptable formats for long-term stability and archiving. •PDS4 is an international archiving standard for planetary data through the International Planetary Data Alliance (IPDA). •PDS Atmospheres (ATM) Node is standing up the Atmospheric Modeling Annex (AMA) for planetary atmospheric modeling outputs that cannot be ‘archived’ due to their non-archival formats and planned lifespan limitations not suited for long-term archiving. •Extension of the PDS4 Information Model with the creation of ‘External’ products (bundles, collections, products) will allow non-standard data products to be registered with PDS. •logical identifiers: persistent Uniform Resource Names (URNs) are registered in PDS Registry. •Simplified labels: not as complex as Archive Bundles, simplifies process of submitting to repository and can be largely automated. •FAIR Open Science: Allows registered, related, ‘external’ data to be searched and found together with PDS archived data. •Bundle Structure parallels PDS4 Archives: Allows for related documentation and related support files to be filed together under one submission.
