1 1 CBASS Inkbird ITC310T-B settings and temperature profiles Hannah Manns, Gabriela Perna, Christian R Voolstra Department of Biology, University of Konstanz, Konstanz, Germany Version 1, Release date: 2025.11.24 Summary The ITC310T–B is a dual-relay outlet thermostat with programmable timer function, which can be set to automatically control 12 period timer stages with different temperatures. The official user manual can be somewhat confusing, so this document is (hopefully) a helpful explanation. We also provide two datasheets: one that explains the settings and display abbreviations (CBASS_Inkbird_ITC310T-B_Settings.xlsx) as well as another one that can be used to automatically calculate the temperature set points for the different timer stages (CBASS_InkBird_ITC310T-B_TemperatureProfiles.xlsx). Under running mode it displays the current temperature. Under setting mode it displays the menu code. SV Setting value. Under running mode it displays the setting temperature. Under setting mode it displays the setting value. Heating indicator lamp When the light is on, controller is heating Cooling indicator lamp When the light is on, controller is cooling SET Press and hold the SET button for 3 seconds to enter settings menu. Press and hold SET button for more than 3 seconds to exit the settings menu, save the settings and start the operation under current running mode. Under running mode tr 1: press the SET button once for 3 seconds to exit the settings menu and simultaneously start the operation at the set Starting Stage (see below); press the SET button 3x to restart the operation at the start stage set. Up button In setting mode: increases the setting value. In running mode tr = 1 / tr = 2: by pressing you can view how much time is left in the current stage. Down button In setting mode: decreases the setting value. In running mode tr = 1 / tr = 2: by pressing you can view what stage of the program it is in. 2 2 How to set parameters 1. Plug in the controller. 2. Press and hold the SET button for more than 3 seconds to enter into the settings mode to set parameters. What parameters are shown will depend on the operation mode you are in. When the controller is turned on for the first time, it will be in the standard running mode tr = 0 3. Once in the setting mode, you press the up or down buttons to change the current value and then press the SET button to save the set value and go to the next setting. 4. Press and hold the SET button for more than 3 seconds to exit the setting mode and save the settings. During setting mode: if there is no operation for 10 seconds the system will automatically exit the menu, return to the normal temperature displaying mode and automatically save the modified settings. Operation modes The below is meant as a general overview. For the detailed settings to choose for running a CBASS, please consult the CBASS_Inkbird_ITC310T-B_Settings.xlsx of this repository. Operation mode = tr 0 (CBASS baseline MMM temperature tank; also: pre-start setting for all tanks to adjust tank water temperature to MMM) Code Function/explanation ts Temperature set value. Press up/down arrow to change temperature and hold set to confirm temperature. Hd Heating differential value. How low below the target temperature before the heating relay will be triggered. The lowest (most sensitive) you can go is 0.3C. Cd Cooling differential value. How high above the target temperature before the cooling relay will be triggered. The lowest (most sensitive) you can go is 0.3C. AH Alarm high limit. Set alarm temperature. The alarm is triggered if temperature goes above set temperature. AL Alarm low limit. Set alarm temperature. The alarm is triggered if temperature goes below set temperature. Pt Compressor delay. This will delay the heating/cooling relay coming on between differential temperatures being reached. Stops heater/cooler from turning on too fast. CA Temperature calibration. To adjust offset between measured and actual temperature (in our case: informed by HOBO loggers that run in each CBASS tank). CF °C or °F, changing will set all (!) settings back to manufacture settings tr Timer mode. 0 = standard operation (timer setting off): for CBASS MMM/baseline hold temperature tank. 1 = continuous timer mode (based on step time rather than set target temp, i.e. will progress through stages based on set duration, regardless of whether target temperature has been reached): for CBASS MMM+X°C temperature tanks. 3 3 2 = target timer mode (based on target temperature rather than set step time, i.e. will progress through stages based on the set temperature; will only start the timer once target temperature is reached; do NOT USE this setting for CBASS). At Auto mode for power shortages 0 – manual mode: controller will need to be restarted and manually set to the starting point 1 – auto mode (setting for CBASS): controller will activate the internal timer and brings itself back to the timepoint and stage where it would have been in without the power shortage StA Stage setting value. Number of stages/steps in the temperature profile: from 1 to 12 SSt Start stage setting value.
