Abstract
Water isn’t usually a spotlight-stealing subject but lately it’s become headline news. The New York Times and the Guardian published major features last year on groundwater depletion and forecasted shortages; Canadian media outlets kicked off 2024 with stories about abnormally dry conditions nationwide and risks of agricultural disaster in Alberta due to drought.
