Supporting Responsible Research Assessment: DORA's practical guide and GraspOS framework
Abstract
Materials from the GraspOS Community of Practice meeting held on 19 November 2025. Topic of Discussion Recently, DORA published “A Practical Guide to Implementing Responsible Research Assessment at Research Performing Organizations” which provides action-oriented guidance, resources, and illustrative examples, for research performing organizations (RPOs) who are looking to shape and deliver responsible research assessment (RRA) practices. At the same time GraspOS has been developing the SCOPE+i Framework, an assessment infrastructure to support RRA in diverse assessment contexts with practical tools for managing the complexities of research assessment reform. In this session, we discussed common challenges and how the guide and the framework might complement each other. Giovanna Lima will also talk about DORA’s CoP . Giovanna Lima is Program Manager at DORA. She has previously worked at Erasmus University, Rotterdam as Impact and Recognition & Rewards Senior Project Officer and at Trinity College, Dublin as Research Impact Officer. Janne Pölönen works as the Secretary General of Publication Forum at TSV (Federation of Finnish Learned Societies - Tieteellisten Seurain Valtuuskunta). He is also involved in the Helsinki Initiative on Multilingualism in Scholarly Communication, the National recommendation for the responsible evaluation of a researcher in Finland, and EOSC Co-creation project on Making FAIReR Assessments Possible. Janne coordinates a CoARA Working-Group on Multilingualism and Language Biases in Research Assessment and serve as member of the CoARA Steering Board.
