Abstract

Context This short talk was given on October 28 2025 in the context of the internal Work in Progress Seminars of the Leibniz Institute on Aging - Fritz Lipmann Institue (FLI), Jena. Description The central goal of Research Data Management (RDM) is to support the creation and publication of FAIR data and metadata. While best practice recommendations like "employ file naming standards" are important, bridging the gap from theory to practice is crucial. This talk presents two new developments that try exactly this: a folder structure template (https://doi.org/10.5334/dsj-2025-035 / https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15835125) for the beginning of (doctoral) projects, and a knowledge transfer file (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17341188) to help organize at the end of projects. The slides give highlighted impressions of these two tools and aim to raise awareness to their availability.
