Abstract

In this research paper we will try to understand the impact of AI in human life. Impact of AI is generally projected as a tool of advancement and technological progress however it has a dark side. This Paper contains information about the unethical behavior of big tech giants to make profits in trillions by making the society addictive and dependent on AI. This addictiveness can lead to destruction of social fabric and fundamental of a well cultured society and make the public a toy controlled by big tech companies. Is this all ethical? and the answer is a big no, imagine behind the black screen of your phone thousands of engineers from big tech institution are learning Attention engineering just to hold you attention to these social media platform in Oder to sell you to the advertisement industry. The dark side of recommendation mechanism using predictive modelling can be understood by an example that Videos that we watch, more videos of a similar category is being recommended to use. Child addicted to watching soft porn or sexual content will get huge recommendation of similar category of videos and on further watching the recommendation mechanism will pour a sea of such content on him. This dopamine cycle makes a simple person addictive and this will be understood in the course of research.

Giants, Unethical, Predictive Modelling, Society. INTRODUCTION In case of 21 century there are hardly elements left untouched by the impact of AI. AI has a penetration to every segment of our life from our morning routine to daily routine. In USA there was a man who ordered a cheese burst pizza from google but got a simple veg pizza as order. The man became furious and outburst on call to google. The google informed the man he had 1000 calories already for the day and any more calories could lead to increase in cholesterol level and risk of heart attack. Outraged man asked to cancel the oder as he has his flight but google informed him that he has not made any flight booking in the last 6 months as there were no transactions done from any of his credit card or financing instrument. DRA ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE 2024 ON “SOCIO-ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES” Int. Jr. of Contemp. Res. in Multi. This is an open-access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY NC ND).https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ The above anecdote gives us a picture of reality of big tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and Facebook that these platforms knows a lot about us. They have data of every activity that we are going through’ our live location, our habits, our interest, our aspirations. This multidimensional data of our lives enables the big tech companies to predict our interests and likes and dislikes. Like a human brain observes the data around from the surrounding and assimilates into certain results. AI is a similar feature done by various algorithms. Algorithms are created by the best tech minds from the best university like haward, stanford, IITs which when substantiate by data of person helps in creating a model which has a predictive behavior. Which is based on recommendation mechanism. Now the question arises why is it so important for the Tech giants to predict human behavior. The simple answer is to Sell Market Products. To sell a product in this highly competitive world it is very important to find out the right target niche. These models helps us to understand who are those people, who belong to that niche and then by the means of advertisement recommendations are given to those person. The recommendation triggers dopamine in their mind and they feel good watching those advertisement and ultimately going to the website to buy that stuff out. The question arises if you are recommended something that you like then what is unethical in it and why are we even discussing it giving our valuable time. The answer will prove its unethicality. Because this is not what we actually want, we are programmed by these social media programmers and the AI engineering models to consume such products on a repetitive basis. Lets take an example of Zomato, we had our lunch and were back to work suddenly a notification with hot cheesy pizza is in front of you with an image of tastiest pizza blowing off your senses. Just because the AI algorithm understands us that the specific person like cheesy food on the basis of data accumulated from all the sources. Sources could be ordering cheese from amazon multiple times. Pizza is something that will be difficult for you to ignore and you will Oder it. This also sounds okay that if we like something what is point in these recommendations. Big hack in this algorithm is more pizza you eat the more will be the recommendation of cheese items in advertisement shown to you and this will go up to a level where you will become totally addictive of pizza and results will be directly reflected on your health. Just because the markets want to sell pizza they consider it okay to destroy your health by changing the mental programming of your mind from liking a dish to becoming addictive of that dish, The surge in increase of heart and cholesterol disease is due to the online AI based platform like Swiggy and Zomato which has recommendation based behavior which turns people who simple like a dish to a person who has suffered heart attack due to junk food addiction. The above example is for tracking behavior in junk food addiction but there are many more dimension to it which are far more dangerous and with the impact not just confined to an individual or a person but to the whole society up to a level that can be sufficient in uprooting an established government. AI when term is used not using world social media is a true injustice to this topic, Social media has penetrated so deep in our life that it has not left any section untouched. From kids of second or third class to old generation of 1950 this set has impacted everyone, Recommendation model like food platforms exist similarly here. Videos that we watch more videos of a similar category is being recommended to use. Children are addicted to watching soft porn or sexual content will get huge recommendation of similar category of videos and on further watching the recommendation mechanism will pour a sea of such content on him. Question arises who is getting benefited because without someone getting benefited the business cannot sustain. Who is real benefiter of child watching too much of sexual content. Answer lies in the FMCG companies who gives Ads between those videos as when the child watching a highly engaging content encounters a video of advertisement with high attention the advertisement goes directly to our subconscious mind and the purpose of advertiser is done. Have you ever noticed that going to super market we find most of the items already known this is the Agenda of the marketing company that spreading awareness of their product in the mind of consumers by any means. Only aim of the tech companies is to keep you at the social media platforms for a long time and the only aim of marketing company is to put advertisement straight away to your subconscious mind with or without your will. Is the ethical and the answer is a big no, Imagine behind the black screen of your phone thousands of engineer from big tech institution are learning Attention engineering just to hold you attention to these social media platform in Oder to sell you to the advertisement industry, It is well said that something is free you are the product and here the attention of an individual is the product. You feel watching videos are free but its Attention engineers who are selling out attention time to these market companies. In recent trends it has been seen radicalization is happening on a mass scale. How is it even possible that Muslims from different part of the world joining ISIS and that too the welleducated ones. Imagine a student watching a radicalized video, on just a click a similar video is available that triggers dopamine and then the recommendation mechanism will recommend the whole series. After watching this range of content the thought and beliefs of person will be directly affected and he will be having a sympathetic attitude towards some and hatred for a particular section, just because he has watched a full set of videos he now seems convinced by the idea of radicalizers and is ready to take DRA ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE 2024 ON “SOCIO-ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES” Int. Then he will search platforms to contact such people and will be a agent of the agenda. This proves how easily even by telling the half-truth people can be convinced by a part of story and hatred can be developed in them by this recommendation mechanism, Such application can be used to uproot a stable and hardworking efficient government of the country. In US election it was found that Russian funded social media has used the recommendation mechanism to change the results of the US elections. The impact is huge. Recently an Indian actress Rashmika mandana deep fake videos were released on internet, putting the actress to shame and such deep fake videos are enough to destroy the social image created by hard work and art after working for years. It is so shameful. There can be time when we as normal citizens will find our videos on porn sites if not AI models are not regulated properly. Such deep fakes can create video of politician speaking unjust and changing the public opinion before the elections, These individual application seems small but combined together will make this society a jungle raj in which the tech companies will be at dominant position to change the results of elections, to change perception of product, fake news supported by deep fakes can collapse the shares of company bringing its values to peanuts. Overall it has the potential and ability to disturb the whole social Oder if not regulated properly. Today AI is a revolution, like industrial revolution changed the world forever, AI is changing the world in world like never before, these is no doubt that AI is leading to growth. Today Documents, presentation, excel and calculations are made in a fraction of seconds. Gone are those times in which we had to search for data on google and need to present them in presentable format by the use of Chat GPT they are done in fraction of seconds. But the question arises are we ready for the pace with which AI is changing the job market, Every job which is done by man if done by AI in predictive modelling is a job cut, Job cut doesn’t ends up monthly salary but uproots the finance and lifestyle of the whole family, pushing them into poverty. This will create inequality in the society and concentration of wealth will happen in some hands leaving the others behind. The society fundamental structure will get disturbed and upper class and lower class gap will increase leading to their harassment. Other aspect includes the Scope of career in AI will pull a huge mass of candidates to aspire for AI related services leaving the other sectors behind which will destroy their fundamental fabric. In return we will get huge skyscrapers big cities like Bangalore but slums in more and more areas like UP and Bihar. Effect of AI on the mental capability of the children cannot be underestimated. The creativity has ended as AI will give modelling and solution to all the takes provided to enhance their mental caliber, which makes them literally weak to solve problems and take decisions. These mentally weak population will watch the third grade poor quality content and the recommendation mechanism will multiply the problems multifold. The investment in human capital what we are looking for will remain a dream. It can be observed that there are numerous videos on science fiction, spirituality which can develop the individual but the watch time on them is less, But the vlogs and cheap entertainment becomes popular within few hours of uploading, which shows out IQ as aspiring country to the goal of 5 trillion economy, It is high time that we must make our generation understand what AI is doing to us. If AI is used as a tool for usage AI is a revolution, it can give results like what were never possible in the past. The predictive modelling and recommendation mechanism can prove out to be a blessing and it can drive the growth of the country .It can make the general population a human capital without attending big institution, It can drive innovation and can connect the world like it was never before. This AI is giving us global connectivity, the mental level of foreign countries will be same as India if we are in right recommendation mechanism, our learnings will increase manifolds and technologies and startups happening abroad can be replicated here to solve the problems of society. However this is not easy and is only possible with awareness of using the AI platforms in the most efficient manner. Basically Use the AI and not get used becoming a product of advertisement industry. On the other hand a digital divide needs to be reduced by means of proper digital infrastructure like Broad band highways to ensure inclusive digital growth for our dream of making India a prosperous nation and role model for others. If something is free you are the product and this era needs a mantra to use AI and not get used. References 1. Jerry K. Artificial Intelligence – what everyone needs to know.
