Dataset associated to manuscript "Upper limits of CH4 and OCS in the Martian atmosphere from NOMAD/TGO solar occultation: a study of vertical averaging and systematic uncertainties" by Escudero et al, submitted to Icarus Notes, 2025 This dataset contains 1 README file in PDF format and 2 directories with the actual data. Each directory is devoted to one of the two species studied in this work, methane (CH4) and carbonyl sulfide (OCS). The upper limits obtained in this work are expressed in ppbv in both cases but the presentation formats of the two species differ. The CH4 directory contains only 1 file in CSV format. This file contains the upper limits obtained in the range from 5 to 50 km tangent altitude, with 1 km steps, for each solar occultation vertical scan / profile. For each scan, location information is also supplied, including latitude, longitude, and solar longitude (season) in degree in addition to MarsYear. Also the NOMAD filename where each scan is supplied with the usual TGO naming convention: XXXXYYZZ_AABBCC_1p0a_***.h5 where the first 8 characters indicate XXXX = year , YY=month, ZZ=day and the following characters indicate AA=hour BB=minute CC=seconds , when the measurements were taken. The OCS directory contains 143 datafiles, one for each vertical scan, same naming convention. The filenames contain six columns describing the vertical profile of upper limits, in the format described in the file header: MY, Lat, Lon, Ls, Altitude, vmr , where the latitude, longitude and solar longitud Ls are all in degree and altitude in km.
