In the 21st century, the processes of globalization, digital transformation, and the expansion of international cooperation have significantly increased the role of English in business. Today, English is considered not only a

International organizations, multinational corporations, and small business entities actively use Business English in their daily operations. Therefore, teaching Business English has become an independent and important field within language education. Unlike General English, Business English is oriented toward performing specific professional tasks and includes business terminology, formal correspondence, negotiations, meetings, and intercultural communication. The modern labor market requires employees not only to have language knowledge but also to be able to discuss problems, make decisions, and express professional opinions effectively. For this reason, the process of teaching Business English must constantly develop and adapt to contemporary demands. The main aim of this article is to analyze current trends and challenges in teaching Business English and to examine their impact on the educational process from an academic perspective. Literature Review. Issues related to teaching Business English are mainly studied within the framework of English for Specific Purposes (ESP). The core idea of the ESP approach is that language teaching should be adapted to learners’ specific goals and needs. Hutchinson and Waters describe ESP as a learner-centered model and emphasize that Business English courses should be designed based on needs analysis [1:B.14]. They argue that language learning is not only a linguistic process but also one closely connected with social and professional activities. Ellis and Johnson emphasize the importance of developing communicative competence in teaching Business English. According to them, in a business environment, clear and effective communication is often more important than grammatically perfect speech [2:B.27]. The authors also point out that the role of the Business English teacher has become more complex, as teachers are expected to act not only as language instructors but also as facilitators and advisors.

They highlight that using real business documents, company reports, email correspondence, and case studies helps develop learners’ practical skills [3:B.52]. Their research confirms that Business English teaching is a dynamic and continuously evolving field. Discussion. One of the main current trends in teaching Business English is needs-based instruction. Before starting a course, teachers should analyze learners’ professional fields, work experience, language levels, and learning objectives. Based on this information, course content and teaching methods can be effectively planned [1:B.18]. This approach increases learners’ motivation and improves learning outcomes. Another significant trend is the communicative and task-based approach. In this approach, learners complete tasks that reflect real business situations, such as discussing company strategies, conducting negotiations, or delivering project presentations. These activities not only enhance language skills but also develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities [2:B.34]. In addition, intercultural communication has become an essential component of Business English teaching. International business often involves cooperation between people from different cultural backgrounds, which requires not only language proficiency but also cultural awareness. A lack of attention to this aspect may lead to misunderstandings in professional communication [3:B.58]. The rapid development of digital technologies has also had a direct impact on teaching Business English. Online meetings, virtual teams, and electronic correspondence are integral parts of modern business communication. However, these developments create new challenges for teachers, such as using technology effectively, engaging learners in online classes, and adapting assessment methods [3:B.60]. Another major challenge in teaching Business English is the lack of business knowledge among some teachers. While teachers may be linguistically competent, they may not have a deep understanding of business processes, which can reduce the

Furthermore, differences in learners’ language levels and professional experience within the same group make effective lesson planning more difficult. Conclusion. In conclusion, teaching Business English is a complex but highly relevant and перспектив field in modern education. Current trends such as needs-based instruction, communicative and task-based approaches, the development of intercultural competence, and the integration of digital technologies significantly enhance the effectiveness of Business English teaching. At the same time, challenges related to teacher preparation, material selection, and learner diversity remain. Addressing these issues systematically will contribute to improving the overall quality of Business English education. REFERENCES 1. Hutchinson, T., Waters, A.
