These are the first records of the species in the Canary archipelago. Furthermore, the presence of the genus Geocoris Fallén, 1814 in the archipelago is summarised. Se presentan las primeras citas de Geocoris amabilis Stål, 1855 (Heteroptera: Geocoridae) en la isla de Gran Canaria (Islas Canarias, España). Éstas son las primeras citas de la especie en el archipiélago canario. Además, se resume la presencia del género Geocoris Fallén, 1814 en el archipiélago. Recibido: 24 de enero de 2025 Publicado on-line: 11 de febrero de 2025 Aceptado: 3 de febrero de 2025 So far, seven species of the genus Geocoris Fallén, 1814 (Heteroptera: Geocoridae) have been reported for the Canary Islands (Spain): Geocoris chloroticus Puton, 1888, Geocoris collaris Puton, 1878, Geocoris lineola (Rambur, 1839), Geocoris megacephalus (Rossi, 1790), Geocoris pallidipennis (A. Costa, 1843), Geocoris phaeopterus (Germar, 1837) and Geocoris pubescens (Jakovlev, 1871) (ROCA-CUSACHS et al., 2020). Herein, the first records of Geocoris amabilis Stål, 1855 in the archipelago are reported: On 1412-2024, an adult specimen of this Afrotropical species (Fig. 1) was found in San Fernando, the northern quarter of Maspalomas in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, located in the south of the island of Gran Canaria (coordinates: 27.765402, -15.579508). Two photographs of the specimen were uploaded to the online database iNaturalist (see here). Furthermore, on 23-01-2025, an adult specimen of G. amabilis was observed in Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas (coordinates: 27.7538779, -15.578265).
