In recent decades, the field of foreign language teaching has undergone significant transformation due to globalization, technological advancement, and changing educational needs. Traditional grammar-centered approaches are increasingly being replaced by learner-centered and communicative methods that emphasize practical language use. This article examines some of the most effective modern methods of teaching foreign languages, including the Communicative Language Teaching approach, Task-Based Learning, Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), Blended Learning, and the use of digital technologies. The analysis highlights the advantages of these methods in developing communicative competence, learner autonomy, and motivation. The article concludes that the integration of modern methodologies enhances the effectiveness of foreign language instruction and better prepares learners for real-life communication. The teaching of foreign languages has always been influenced by social, cultural, and technological changes. In the modern educational context, the main goal of language instruction is not only the acquisition of grammatical knowledge but also the development of communicative competence. As a result, modern teaching methods focus on interaction, real-life communication, and the active involvement of learners in the learning process. Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). Communicative Language Teaching is one of the most widely used modern approaches in foreign language education. The primary aim of CLT is to enable learners to communicate effectively in the target language. This method emphasizes speaking and listening skills, authentic materials, and meaningful interaction. Grammar is taught implicitly through communication rather than through mechanical drills. CLT helps learners gain confidence and fluency in real communicative situations. Task-Based Language Learning (TBL). Task-Based Language Learning is a learner-centered approach in which students acquire language through the completion of meaningful tasks. These tasks often reflect real-life situations, such as problem-solving, role-playing, or project work. The focus is on using language as a tool to achieve a specific outcome. TBL promotes critical thinking, collaboration, and active participation, making the learning process more engaging and effective. Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL). CLIL is a modern educational approach in which a foreign language is used as a medium to teach non-language subjects such as science, history, or mathematics. This method allows learners to develop subject knowledge and language skills simultaneously. CLIL increases exposure to the target language and enhances vocabulary acquisition while maintaining high cognitive engagement. Digital resources provide opportunities for individualized learning, instant feedback, and increased learner motivation. Technology also supports autonomous learning beyond the classroom. Conclusion. Methods of teaching foreign languages emphasize communication, learner autonomy, and the practical use of language. Approaches such as Communicative Language Teaching, TaskBased Learning, CLIL, and Blended Learning contribute to the development of comprehensive language skills and prepare learners for real-world communication. The effective application of these methods requires professional teacher training and the thoughtful integration of technology.
