In he 1990s some Ame ican his o ians, based on cul u al app oaches, analyzed he p oblems de i ed
om sla e y, o which hey joined in hei s udies he case o A ica (Black A lan ic S udies) and also
claimed he need o o e come he in e p e a ion ex ended so a ha he bou geois e olu ions should be
unde s ood only in he con ex o Anglo-Saxon adi ions. Meanwhile, F ench esea che s s udying he
in luence o he F ench Re olu ion in he Ca ibbean (Hai i) and he e olu ion o C eole popula ions, opened
new issues s essing he need o ensu e ha he A lan ic s udies we e no exclusi ely cen e ed abou he
app oaches de i ed om bou geois e olu ions.
