I pray that God Almighty will keep us all in good health to reap the fruits of this labour, Amen.ABSTRACTThe Global Positioning System (GPS) post processing technique has proved to be the most efficient means of obtaining precise and accurate positional results. Lately, different types of Post-processing software have been rolled out into the market and surveyors rush out to purchase them without knowing their efficacy, resulting to loss in precious man-hours and scare resources. Trimble software products produce statistical parameters that could be used to evaluate final positional solutions obtainable from this software. This study compared and assessed the positional results obtainable from Trimble Business Centre (TBC), Trimble Total Control (TTC) and Trimble Geomatics Office (TGO) software, by comparing and assessing the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Traces of Aposteriori Covariance matrix of the shortest and longest baselines in the baseline domain. Also, in the coordinate domain, variances associated with the horizontal and height component, Network Adjustment Statistics, Processing Time, Processing Algorithm and Data compact ability were assessed. The survey data was processed at 150, 250 and 350 satellite mask angle using 24 hours RINEX data from FUTY Continuously Operating Reference Station (FUTY CORS) as control for GPS week 1622 and Day 40. The final results obtained from this software revealed that TBC estimated the least values of RMSE and Traces of covariance matrix in the baseline domain. Also, in the coordinate domain, TBC still gave the least value of coordinate variances. TGO produced the highest values of RMSE and Traces of covariance matrices in the baseline domain and also the highest variances in coordinate domain compared to TBC and TTC packages. Therefore, TBC was found to give better consistent and satisfactory positional results then TGO and TTC at 95% level of confidence. Therefore, TBC is recommended for large and medium scale geodetic surveying and engineering projects including Academic research.
